What is a Partial Hospitalization Program?
A Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is an intensive outpatient treatment option designed for individuals who require more support than typical outpatient services can provide, but who do not need 24-hour care like that provided in inpatient or residential treatment facilities. PHP allows individuals to receive comprehensive and structured treatment during the day while returning home or to a sober living environment at night.
GENDER-RESPONSIVE TREATMENT
Benefits of Partial Hospitalization Programs for Women
Deciding on the right level of care for addiction or mental health treatment can be challenging. For many women, a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) offers the perfect blend of intensive therapy and personal independence. Here are some of the key benefits of PHPs tailored specifically for women:
PHPs provide a structured treatment environment during the day, which helps establish routine and stability—crucial elements in recovery. At the same time, the flexibility to return home in the evenings allows you to maintain connections with family and apply coping strategies in real-life scenarios. This balance supports a smoother transition to everyday life post-treatment.
Women face unique challenges in both the development of and recovery from mental health and substance use disorders. PHPs designed for women address specific issues such as trauma, body image, self-esteem, and relationships through gender-responsive treatment. This approach acknowledges the distinct paths of women’s recovery and promotes healing in a supportive, understanding environment.
PHPs provide a range of services similar to those offered in inpatient settings. This includes individual counseling, group therapy sessions, and possibly psychiatric care, which are essential for addressing a wide range of issues from substance abuse to co-occurring disorders like anxiety or depression.
For many women, the commitment to full-time residential care is not feasible due to family or work responsibilities. PHPs offer a viable alternative that does not completely remove you from your daily responsibilities, allowing you to receive treatment without significant disruption to your life. Moreover, the continuity from an inpatient level of care to outpatient care through PHP helps maintain treatment gains and provides ongoing support.

Addressing Co-Occurring Disorders in a Partial Hospitalization Program
For women dealing with co-occurring substance abuse and mental health issues, a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) offers a specialized approach that treats both conditions simultaneously, recognizing that integrated care is essential for effective recovery. In a PHP treatment, you can expect comprehensive assessment and treatment planning that identifies your health needs. Treatment teams typically include psychiatrists, psychologists, counselors, and other health professionals who collaborate to ensure that both your mental health and substance abuse issues are addressed. This holistic approach helps in understanding the interplay between your mental health and substance use, providing therapies that are tailored to improve overall well-being.
The daily structure of a PHP supports continuous therapeutic engagement which is vital for managing co-occurring disorders. Throughout the program, you will participate in therapy modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed care. These therapies are designed to equip you with the skills needed to manage symptoms, reduce substance dependence, and cope with stress healthily. Group therapy sessions also play a crucial role, offering a space to connect with others who understand your struggles, and fostering a supportive community environment. This level of care promotes recovery and encourages active steps towards a healthier and more stable life. All while providing a structured and supportive treatment environment.

PHP FOR EATING DISORDERS
Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHPs) tailored for eating disorders provide specialized, intensive treatment that combines the rigor of inpatient care with the flexibility of outpatient settings. These programs are designed to address the psychological, nutritional, and physical aspects of eating disorders through a comprehensive treatment plan. Daily structured activities in a PHP include individual therapy, nutrition counseling, group sessions that focus on body image and healthy eating habits, and monitored meals to establish and reinforce normal eating patterns. This level of care is particularly beneficial for individuals who need consistent support and medical monitoring, but who are also stable enough to benefit from part-time clinical care. PHPs for eating disorders not only aim to treat the disorder itself but also empower individuals with the tools and support needed to build a healthier relationship with food and body image in their everyday lives.
PHP FOR MENTAL HEALTH DISORDERS
Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHPs) for mental health disorders offer a crucial level of support for individuals needing structured care without the round-the-clock supervision of inpatient facilities. These programs focus on treating a variety of mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and PTSD, through intensive, multi-faceted therapy sessions conducted several hours each day. In a PHP, patients benefit from a mix of individual therapy, group therapy, and possibly psychiatric medication management, all tailored to their specific needs. This setup provides a therapeutic environment that supports significant improvement in mental health symptoms, enhances coping mechanisms, and fosters social skills, while allowing patients to apply these new skills in real-world environments each evening, promoting a smoother transition to everyday life.

A FEW WORDS FROM OUR CLIENTS
STORIES OF RECOVERY
I would highly recommend anchored tides! I was a client at anchored tides for almost a year and it was such an amazing place to be and played a major part in my recovery. First the owners Becca and Amy are such amazing women who truly care about helping women and run an honest recovery center with great therapists, case managers & staff. This place helped me integrate back into life and always encouraged me throughout the time I was there. I now have almost 18 months sober and am truly blessed by the life I have today and a HUGE thank you goes out to achored tides and all that they did to help to get me where I am at today. I truly couldn’t not say enough good things about this place or the amount of love that I have for everyone here!

What an amazing place Anchored Tides is. As Amy explained when we first visited, girls and women are an afterthought in many treatment programs, which often are founded and structured for boys and men. Anchored Tides’ holistic approach to ALL of the co-existing issues that girls and women face is groundbreaking, and so appreciated. They are wonderful people who do inspiring work and make the world a better place every day. I highly recommend their sober living and IOP. The founders have crucial and relevant lived experiences and care deeply, and they are amazing role models for all the women help.
