Women’s Substance Abuse Treatment
What Is Substance Abuse Treatment?
Substance abuse treatment is a structured approach to addressing the physical, emotional, and psychological effects of addiction. It provides individuals with the tools and support they need to overcome substance use and reclaim their lives.
At Anchored Tides Recovery, we understand that addiction is more than a habit—it’s a condition that requires comprehensive care and personalized attention.
Substance Abuse & Women’s Health
The Impact of Substance Abuse on Women
Substance abuse can affect every part of a woman’s life — including physical health, emotional well-being, relationships, and daily responsibilities. Without support, these challenges can become harder to manage over time.
Substance abuse can lead to organ damage, hormonal imbalance, increased anxiety or depression, and other long-term physical and mental health conditions.
Addiction can strain relationships with partners, children, family members, and friends, often leading to isolation, guilt, and loss of trust.
Ongoing substance use may result in job instability, financial stress, or legal consequences that make recovery feel overwhelming without support.
How Can Substance Abuse Treatment Help?
Substance abuse treatment focuses on more than symptoms — it helps women address the underlying causes of addiction. Through medical care, therapy, and holistic support, treatment can help women:
- Safely detox under medical supervision.
- Address underlying trauma and co-occurring disorders.
- Develop healthier coping mechanisms.
- Build a solid foundation for long-term recovery.
If you’re wondering, “How do I know if treatment is right for me?” know that our team is here to answer your questions and help you take the first step. Recovery is possible, and Anchored Tides Recovery is here to help you reclaim your life.
Substance Abuse Treatment Programs for Women
Our substance abuse treatment programs are designed specifically for women and address the physical, emotional, and psychological aspects of addiction through structured, supportive care.
Detoxification Services for Women
For many women, detox is the first step in substance abuse treatment. Detox helps the body safely clear harmful substances while managing withdrawal symptoms under medical supervision. We partner with trusted medical professionals in Orange County, California, to ensure women receive safe, supportive detox care before moving into the next phase of recovery.
Our detox services focus on:
- Safety: 24/7 medical monitoring to manage withdrawal symptoms and reduce risk
- Comfort: Compassionate support to ease physical and emotional challenges
- Stability: Helping women feel grounded and prepared for continued treatment
Detox timelines vary based on the substance used and individual needs, but most programs last between 7–10 days. Our team is here to guide you through each step and help you transition smoothly into ongoing care.
Inpatient Treatment Programs for Women
Inpatient treatment provides women with a structured, immersive environment where they can step away from daily stressors and focus fully on recovery. Our women-only inpatient programs offer consistent support, clinical care, and community connection in a safe, nurturing setting.
Inpatient treatment includes
- Daily therapy: Evidence-based approaches such as CBT, EMDR, and trauma-informed care
- Peer support: Group sessions that foster connection with other women in recovery
- Holistic therapies: Practices like yoga, art therapy, and meditation to support emotional well-being
Inpatient care is well-suited for women who need intensive support and stability during early recovery. This level of care creates space for healing, growth, and meaningful progress.
Outpatient Treatment Options
Outpatient treatment is designed for women who need continued support while balancing work, school, or family responsibilities. These programs offer flexibility while still providing structured, therapeutic care.
Outpatient services may include:
Weekly therapy: Individual and group sessions focused on substance use and recovery
Relapse prevention: Practical tools to manage triggers and maintain sobriety
Family involvement: Counseling and education to strengthen support systems
Outpatient care allows women to continue building recovery skills while staying connected to everyday life and responsibilities.
Dual Diagnosis Treatment for Women
Many women experience mental health challenges alongside substance use. Our dual diagnosis treatment program is designed to address both conditions at the same time, recognizing how closely mental health and addiction are connected in recovery.
Dual diagnosis treatment may include:
Trauma-informed therapy: Evidence-based approaches such as CBT and EMDR to address anxiety, depression, and underlying trauma
Medication management: Clinical support to help stabilize mental health symptoms when appropriate
Holistic practices: Mind-body approaches that support emotional balance and overall well-being
By treating substance abuse and mental health together, women can work toward a more balanced, sustainable recovery with the support they need at every stage.

A FEW WORDS FROM OUR CLIENTS
STORIES OF RECOVERY
What an amazing place Anchored Tides is. As Amy explained when we first visited, girls and women are an afterthought in many treatment programs, which often are founded and structured for boys and men. Anchored Tides’ holistic approach to ALL of the co-existing issues that girls and women face is groundbreaking, and so appreciated. They are wonderful people who do inspiring work and make the world a better place every day. I highly recommend their sober living and IOP. The founders have crucial and relevant lived experiences and care deeply, and they are amazing role models for all the women help.
Anchored tides saved my life. I had been to an inpantient facility before and my sobriety wasn’t lasting, until I found this place. I enjoyed the different groups and the staff and women are so welcoming. I felt so comfortable here, which I hadn’t felt before. I now have the confidence to succeed in life. Very thankful for this place.
Anchored Tides changed my life. After doing a 30 day inpatient program I came to ATR to expound upon the coping skills in inpatient treatment. Not only did I learn more coping skills, I discovered who I really was underneath all of the anxiety, addiction, and trauma: a woman with so much to offer the world. I would have not been able to thrive in sobriety without the deeply transformative inner work that ATR provided. Like most things in life, it’s what you make of it. If you come in with a positive outlook you are going to get a lot out of the program. I know I did!
